{"id":1694,"date":"2014-01-14T21:10:11","date_gmt":"2014-01-14T21:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/131.94.113.45\/arcwp\/?page_id=1694"},"modified":"2025-01-31T12:04:57","modified_gmt":"2025-01-31T17:04:57","slug":"workforce-development","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eicdev.fiu.edu\/phparc\/research\/workforce-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Workforce Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The DOE-FIU Science and Technology Workforce Development Program is an innovative program between the U.S. Department of Energy\u2019s Office of Environmental Management (DOE-EM) and Florida International University\u2019s Applied Research Center designed to create a \u201cpipeline\u201d of FIU STEM engineers specifically trained and mentored to enter the Department of Energy workforce in technical areas of need. This innovative program was designed to help address DOE\u2019s future workforce needs by partnering with academic, government and DOE contractor organizations to mentor future STEM scientists and engineers in the research, development, and deployment of new technologies addressing DOE\u2019s environmental cleanup challenges. Students selected as DOE Fellows will perform research at FIU and at a DOE site. Upon graduation and completion of this fellowship, the students will submit an application to join Federal Internship programs such as Student Career Experience Program (SCEP), National Laboratories, DOE Contractors, or related industry.<\/p>\n<p>-BREAK-<\/p>\n<h2>Workforce Development<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The DOE-FIU Science and Engineering Workforce Development Program is designed to build upon existing DOE\/FIU relationship by creating a \u201cpipeline\u201d of FIU STEM scientists and engineers specifically trained and mentored to enter the U.S. Department of Energy\u2019s workforce in technical areas of need.
