The Center&#8217;s focus is to <strong>solve real-world problems <\/strong>through multi-disciplinary research collaborations within the University&#8217;s increasingly talented applied and basic research units. The Applied Research Center will be uniquely structured and staffed to allow for free-flowing exchange of ideas between the University&#8217;s applied researchers, academia, government, private sector and industry partners.<\/p>\n<p>-BREAK-<\/p>\n<p>The Applied Research Center is organized into three\u00a0core research areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eicdev.fiu.edu\/phparc\/research\/environment\/\"><strong><strong>Environment<\/strong><\/strong><\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>Deactivation &amp; Decommissioning<\/li>\n<li>Geographic Information System<\/li>\n<li>Mechanics and Materials<\/li>\n<li>Soil<\/li>\n<li>Waste Processing<\/li>\n<li>Water Resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Energy<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Nuclear<\/li>\n<li>Renewable<\/li>\n<li>Clean Coal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eicdev.fiu.edu\/phparc\/research\/information-technology\/\"><strong>Information Technology<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>Cyber Security<\/li>\n<li>Enterprise Solutions<\/li>\n<li>Mobile Applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Under the leadership of its Executive Director, the Center reports to Florida International University &#8216;s Division of Research. An External Advisory Board, encompassing leaders from the private and public sectors, participates actively in the Center&#8217;s growth and development.
