The LWV has been actively engaged in making democracy work since 1920. They\u00a0are a non-partisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The LWV strongly believes it is an important task to recognize women that have achieved professional success and can be looked at as examples by the younger generation.
