It is with great pleasure that we would like to announce that the Applied Research Center (ARC) at Florida International University (FIU) has secured an additional multi-million dollar award for sponsored research from the U.S. Department of Defense\u2019s Test Resource Management Center (DOD-TRMC). The new funding is a continuation of the\u00a0cybersecurity technology research & development<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0STEM workforce development\/training<\/strong>\u00a0efforts being led at ARC since 2013.<\/p>\n

ARC, in collaboration with our colleagues at FIU\u2019s Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) and School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS), is developing the \u201cCyber Attack Orchestration Testbed for Automation and Threat Monitoring in Virtual Environment (CTAM)\u201d Cyberspace Test Technology for Test & Evaluation (T&E).<\/p>\n

DOD Fellows and ARC Cybersecurity researchers working on CTAM project for DOD-TRMC<\/p><\/div>\n

ARC is performing state-of-the-art research in machine learning\/deep learning to support the Cyberspace Test Technology domain of DOD. This will allow the cyber operations team to model their missions in a virtual environment and monitor the test vector behavior as it propagates through the system.<\/em><\/p>\n

In addition to the technical work being performed for the purposes of detecting, monitoring and analyzing the malware behavior during cyber-attacks to DOD infrastructure, a parallel\u00a0STEM workforce development and training<\/strong>\u00a0effort, known as the DOD-TRMC Cyber Fellows program, is training the next generation of scientists and engineers that will constitute the cybersecurity workforce of the future.<\/p>\n

The specialized training and excellent education received at FIU makes our students extremely attractive to government agencies and government contractors. <\/em><\/p>\n

ARC works with DOD-TRMC and FIU engineering departments to source talented students to participate in this Cyber Fellows program, which includes 10-week cyberspace internships<\/strong> at various DOD facilities and DOD contractors followed by continuing work on the cyber security projects at ARC. The program also facilitates the\u00a0career employment of FIU STEM students,<\/strong> the majority with DOD or DOD contractors.<\/p>\n

\u2022 13 FIU students inducted as Cyber Fellows since program inception
\n\u2022 7 additional Cyber Fellows will be inducted on May 23, 2018
\n\u2022 7 additional FIU STEM students and post-doc fellows have also been trained
\n\u2022 18 completed TRMC sponsored internships
\n\u2022 6 additional internships at DOD facilities planned for summer 2018
\n\u2022 10 Cyber Fellows have graduated from FIU and joined the cyber workforce
\n\u2022 3 additional Cyber Fellows are graduating this term and joining Google, Boeing, and MITRE Corps.<\/div>\n
