On December 8, 2022, the FIU ARC Robotics Team received recognition at the Employee Appreciation Lunch.\u00a0\u00a0Dr. Ines Triay, Executive Director, ARC in the center of the picture, presented the\u00a0ARC\u2019s Robotic Team with the award. The ARC Robotics Team designed, developed, and created a prototype, to test and deploy two one-of-a-kind robotic systems. Both systems were deployed at the Department of Energy Hanford facility earlier this year. The two innovative robotic technologies as part of the research and development being conducted for DOE-EM. All team members were extremely reliable, working long hours (including weekends) to achieve the technology deployment objectives and goals. Staff and students worked in the lab to meet the deadlines imposed by the client. Both technologies were deployed and tested successfully at the DOE facility as promised to DOE.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

The quality of the work has not only been observed internally by ARC, but also by our DOE and DOE contractor stakeholders (Washington River Protection Solutions, DOE ORP, and DOE HQ). The two robotic systems deployed at the Hanford facility performed beyond expectations and showed the quality of the research and development work being conducted at FIU. All components of the robotic system worked as designed and tested. The product was extremely well received by DOE and DOE contractor management and the technology was officially transferred to DOE and adopted by the DOE contractor (WRPS). The quality and utility of the FIU technology were great that the DOE contractor requested three additional units.\u00a0
<\/span><\/p>\n

The entire Robotic Team has managed to put ARC at the forefront of robotic technology development at FIU and within the DOE Complex. With these two deployments under our belt, ARC is recognized as an organization that can successfully develop and deploy robotic systems for nuclear applications. This is a huge accomplishment for ARC and FIU. This work has received national and international recognition and allowed for a patent disclosure application.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
