From left to right, Provost Elizabeth Bejar, Dr. Amer Awwad, and FIU President Kenneth Jessell.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>ARC is pleased to announce that <a href=\"https:\/\/eicdev.fiu.edu\/phparc\/staff\/amer-awwad\/\">Dr. Amer Awwad<\/a>, Sr. Research Scientist, in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/cee.fiu.edu\/atorod-azizinamini\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Atorod Azizinamini<\/a>, Professor from <a href=\"https:\/\/cee.fiu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FIU\u2019s Civil and Environmental Engineering Department<\/a>, and Director of Infrastructure Research and Innovation, have developed an innovative technology to quickly assess the durability of hardened concrete. The technology can quickly test concrete strength without the need to take a core sample of the concrete. A patent has been granted for this technology and has the potential to become the industry standard for testing concrete that can predict and prevent bridge and building collapses such as the Surfside building disaster.
